Contemporary Art Museum in Italy

The quality of a Museum is not just deriving from its property or goods size but particularly from its capability to provide service, to promote research and culture as well as to contribute to an improvement of its surrounding territory.

A museum is cultural expression of territory; it contributes to build and fortify identity and social development of a community, it contributes to memory and cultural promotion.

With this in mind, Casoria Contemporary Art Museum is working from almost three years on the Suburban area of Naples, Southern Italy, to contribute to its cultural development through projects and events.

CAM_Casoria Contemporary Art Museum was born at the end of 2004 out of a project of the Municipality of Casoria (Naples) to offer to the town and to its suburban area a museum of contemporary art. The development and management of this project and idea was granted to the Onlus Cultural Association ” International Contemporary Art Center” by promoting projects on a local, national and international level.

CAM current collection of contemporary art works is not just bound to the art market but is aiming to a research into local, national and international languages and art trends.

CAM was not born as mere container of simulacra; the original project is close to what we would like a museum to be today: a place to develop culture and research, didactics, to stimulate an hermeneutical experience of contemporaneity, to visualize creativity and to learn and practise the complexity of today aesthetics.
